Exploring Espiritu Santo with Chase

Our son, Chase joined us to explore for a week in LaPaz. We experienced the “Carnival” excitement, booths, parades and just people watching. We stocked up at the fresh fruit and vegetable market that operates on Tuesdays and Saturdays downtown. On Tuesday morning we cast off our dock lines and headed out to Espiritu Santo, an island 27 miles from LaPaz. We would anchor for a few days and explore. We had a nice sail over and introduced Chase to sailing….of course, he caught on right away! Chase tried his hand at fishing as well, but no luck. We dinghied to shore and spent a day climbing over boulders to get a great view of our little anchorage and Slow Dancer far below. This was a test to keep up with a 29 year old…..but he was patient and we pushed ourselves to the limit! We snorkeled around a small island and Chase speared a fish. It was an excellent adventure with lots of great time together. We headed back on Friday to our marina and LaPaz. Saturday was spent exploring the city and ended with a nice dinner together.
