Buenos Dias Puerto Rico!

March 31, 2022

On the morning of March 28, 2022, we motored into Marina Pescaderia in Puerto Real. This is a small fishing town that sits on a large bay with cruising boats sharing space with commercial and sport fishing boats. The morning was calm and we carefully docked Slow Dancer in our slip on the short concrete dock. Looks like we will be climbing over our lifelines to get off….should be interesting!

We met Cano, the dock guy, and Jose, the Dockmaster, who welcomed us to Puerto Rico. We were happy to be here!

Our home for the next week

We rented a car for a couple of days and drove down the south coast as well as up the west coast of the island. We were excited to find a Sam’s Club and provision for the next month or so.

We enjoyed downtown Ponce, Puerto Rico’s second largest city
Ponce downtown square
The waterfront at La Parguera
We drove up the west coast to Rincon, a surf town
We enjoyed watching the surfers
The lighthouse at Rincon
Doesn’t every beach have a bikini bus?
This is what happens when fishermen clean their catch in a marina. Some of these guys are 4′ long!
A beautiful bay to spend the week

Now off to transit the southern length of the island as we head to the U.S. Virgin Islands.
