Work and Play (or play and work?)

October 26, 2022

With Slow Dancer in the yard, we decided to explore some areas of St. Maarten/St. Martin that we had not seen before.

Fort St. Louis on the French side of the island
Fort St. Louis, built in 1789, built to defend the settlement from British and Dutch pirates
150 steps leading to the fort, traversed by tourists and “locals”
Beautiful view of the harbor in Marigot
A local hanging out

We watched while a tropical storm passed by!

The “road” to our apartment

Hanging out near the pool at Loterie Farms

We celebrated Chase’s and Dale’s birthdays at Loterie Farms, a beautiful nature preserve with a zipline and a natural pool.

Lots of ziplines

But it wasn’t all play! We spent lots of time in the hot, dusty yard working to get Slow Dancer ready to go back into the water.

Rewiring the AIS
Apparently we are sharing Slow Dancer with a boat yard resident?!

And back comes the mast with new rigging
